The PHD candidates will have to perform a project having the objective to individuate, synthesize and characterise novel hybrid nanostructured silane-siloxane coating with improved features (antibacterial, anti staining, abrasion resistance and anti drawing). The characteristics will come from a synergic effect of polymeric matrices and nanostructured textures of metal and oxide nanoparticles (Ag Cu, ZnO, TiO2). The novel coating will be suitable for metal, plastic and ceramic supports and will satisfy all the requirements for these different application. A parallel research on the polymeric matrix must be performed in order to obtain more elastic coating with improved resistance to the bending. Also aesthetic aspects will be taken into account to satisfy the marketing specification. An assessment of the characterization will conducted in order to define for each product the analytical and synthetic protocol and to set up the chemical physical specification and the technical data sheet. The efficacy and industrial scalability should also be tested in order to pre-validate a product for the commercialization. The PhD researcher will have also the chance to finalize his work to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg for the characterisation of nanostructured materials.
